Obama Reflects on Anniversary of Presidential Campaign Launch

  • Former President Barack Obama took to social media to mark a historic anniversary.
  • February 10, 2007 was the day he announced his candidacy for president.
  • He wrote on Facebook, it's hard to believe that 15 years have passed.
  • There are plans to erect a marker at the site where he made his official announcement.
  • Obama continued, it's easy to look back on that morning and the nearly two year campaign that followed and think that our efforts were destined for success. But at the time, our campaign was viewed as a longshot-historic perhaps, but unlikely to end in the White House.
  • More than 17,000 people attended the event that launched his campaign.
  • He said what gave him confidence to move forward in spite of it being a long shot were the people he met along the way.
