Promoter Sues the City of Winston-Salem For Canceling Hip Hop Show

I don't think I've heard of a promoter suing an entire city. Promoters sue celebrities for various reasons, but one man is suing the City of Winston-Salem. According to Complex, a huge concert was supposed to happen on July 31. The Carolina Summers Music Fest was going to take place in Winston-Salem, but it has been cancelled. Apparently, the city decided to cancel for fear of gang violence. The show would have Moneybagg Yo, Pooh Shiesty and Big Latto. The city called the promoters, Starr Entertainment and decided to pull out of the music fest. Apparently, the local police did their own investigation into the performers and decided some of the acts could potentially be a chance of violence and gang activity. The promoters isn't cool with that at all because now the city representatives have to duke it out in front of a judge. Starr Entertainment is looking for monetary damages as well as the lawsuit, that include $200,000 they lost in non-refundable deposits for the artists and more. But there may be a little of a fight because the city did sign the contract that included a right to cancel "on the grounds of character offensive to public moral," so we will see how this goes.
