Tracy Chapman Wins Copyright Lawsuit Against Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj is out here enjoying motherhood and smiling while doing it. But then comes an axe in her world. Singer Tracy Chapman sued Nicki for copyright infringement. Nicki sampled Chapman’s "Baby Can I Hold You" for a song called "Sorry" without proper permission. The song was supposed to appear on Nicki's 2018 album, "Queen" but it didn't make the cut, because the sample wasn't cleared. It's crazy being sued for a song that isn't on your album. Funk Flex pretty much played the tracked then it was leaked on the Internet and that's when Chapman caught wind of the sampling. Instead of going to court, the lawsuit has been settled and Nicki will now have to pay Chapman $450k.
