Disney Preps For "Lion King" Sequel with "Moonlight" Director Barry Jenkins

I swear when you do something for Disney, it's a big deal. Think of those royalties. Well there will be a follow up to The Lion King that was released in 2019 by The Walt Disney Studios. But what makes this even better is that they've tapped Oscar winner, Barry Jenkins to direct the photo-realistic film, according to Deadline. If you recall, Barry won an Oscar for his film "Moonlight" and he directed the adaptation film, "If Beale Street Could Talk." But here is the thing, in the day of the pandemic, there is no release date set yet for the sequel to start on production. This will be something to look forward to and something big. And it would be nice if he were to come through the station again, as he did when he was ready to release If Beale Street Could Talk.
