The President Gives A Deadline to Shut TikTok Down

The President is about to hurt a lot of feelings if he really gets his way and shuts down the famous app, TikTok. A lot of people use the app for fun to make videos dancing, or doing comedy, or whatever. The problem, TikTok is Chinese-owned. And of course, we know how the President feels about. He actually wanted the app to be shut down over the weekend, then came word that Microsoft would purchase the app. According to TMZ, Microsoft confirmed they were in talks to buy the app from its parent company, ByteDance. Microsoft said it's planning to complete the talk with the TikTok team no later than September 15. That's when the President jumps in and says the app will "be out of business" in the U.S. on Sept. 15 "unless Microsoft or somebody else is able to buy it and work out a deal." If you're wondering why is he being so anal about a social media app, its because he believes it's a privacy issue. He doesn't want U.S. data from TikTok users to fall into the Chinese government's hands and rather have an American company with strong cybersecurity run the operations.
