Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Acquires the XFL After They Filed Bankruptcy

If you ever had a chance to watch Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on HBO's "Ballers", you saw how invested he was in the sports world as he played the character Spencer Strasmore. Towards the end of the series, we see Spencer make a major purchase. Well, he seems to be a real life Spencer. Dwayne and a group of investors have agreed to purchase the XFL for about $15 million, according to ESPN. The XFL declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy April 13 and has been seeking a buyer for the past three months and in jumps in Dwayne. By the way, one of his business partners and investors is his ex-wife, Dany Garcia, who will now become the first female owner of a major American sports league. She and Dwayne plan on a hands-on approach to running the league. The sale must be approved by a bankruptcy judge at a hearing Friday. Dwayne posted on Instagram, "My dreams of playing professional football never came true, however - this passion venture allows me to create opportunities for other players to showcase their talents, take care of their families and make their own dreams come true." Damn, I miss HBO's "Ballers."
