If you're in Philly and want to head out to a restaurant to eat indoors, you will need proof that you have been vaccinated. Officials made the announcement on Monday. The mandate will go into effect on Jan. 3, 2022. So what does that mean? If you're heading to any bars, restaurants, movie theaters, wedding venues and other venues, you will need to show proof of vaccination. And no need to be upset at the rules because the numbers have gone up with COVID cases doubling since Thanksgiving, according to 10 NBC. Hospitalization has gone up about 50%. After Jan. 17, negative COVID-19 tests will no longer be accepted for most patrons and vaccines will be required. However, establishments like schools, daycares and others like soup kitchens or shelters that serve vulnerable populations will not require vaccination proof or negative tests. Also, kids younger than 5 or those with valid medical or religious exemptions is exempted from the mandate. Restaurant workers also must be vaccinated. Also with this new mandate, the indoor mask mandate is also back in effect this week, at least until January. Keep in mind, this mandate isn't to piss you off, but to keep you safe indoors. New York has implemented this mandate months ago.
