Mount Laurel Man Remains In Jail for Racist Rant and Harassment

Remember that video that went viral of a local man basically on a racist rant, harassing a couple in his neighborhood. A man jumped to the defense of that couple, only to be called the N-word and a monkey. He held his composure. However, later, cops came to arrest the man on his rant, Edward Cagney Mathews. Let's not forget though, in that video, Mathews gave his address and told people to come see him. Baby, people did just that and protested this man's hatred. Now that he is in jail, he will stay in jail until his trial, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Mathews is considered a “high risk of danger to the community if released” and has a documented history of harassment against his neighbors. One prosecutor said some of the harassment went back to 2020 where he "was shooting up cars this entire time, he was throwing rocks at cars, he was smearing feces on cars”. He faces 14 charges, including criminal mischief, bias intimidation, harassment, trespassing, stalking, and drug and weapons possession.
