Congress Passes $1.9T COVID Relief Bill With No Republican Votes

There will be some relief coming soon to the American citizens. President Joe Biden got a win on Wednesday. He secured his first legislative victory since he took office with a 220-211 vote for a COVID relief bill. While no republicans voted, Congress passed the bill for the nearly $2T package, according to NBC News. President Biden will sign the bill on Friday. This will definitely help a lot of people because that means people will start receiving $1,400 stimulus checks. Also with the relief bill, it will provide $300 a week in enhanced jobless benefits through Sept. 6. And it would expand the annual child tax credit to $3,600 for children up to age 5 and $3,000 for children ages 6 to 17. It will also boost funding to ramp up vaccine distribution and reopen schools. That's some great news to hear on a day that marks a year of when things went into a shutdown because of COVID-19. The President is scheduled to address the bill this evening.
