But to kick things off for Black History Month, On Monday the movement was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. The nomination letter, submitted by Petter Eide, a socialist lawmaker of the Storting, Norway’s parliament, according to Hip Hop Wired. He praised Black Lives Matter, "for their struggle against racism and racially motivated violence." The group started as a hashtag following the shooting of Trayvon Martin in 2012. By the way, Georgia's Stacy Abrams’ name was also thrown into the hate for her work to fight voter suppression.
