Kids have been home from school doing virtual learning for almost a year now in certain areas in the Tri-State. Parents have been wondering when these babies would get back into schools, but the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising numbers set plans back for a while now. There are certain circumstances that will actually keep some schools closed. For instance, there are about 4 schools that will be closed in Camden, New Jersey that will impact about 1,200 students. They are facing a $40 million deficit. But the closings aren't due to the pandemic. According to 6 ABC, the Camden City School District announced Tuesday it will be closing four public schools in the city at the end of the year; Wiggins, Sharp, Cramer, and Yorkship schools. But it's because the schools are over 100 years old and need structural repairs. Meanwhile, as for Philadelphia, will schools return to in-person? The district has been in virtual learning for a while, pushing plans on returning to in-person because the COVID numbers were going up. But the plan is to start hybrid learning in February. More details of the schools going hybrid will be released today as Mayor Jim Kenney and school leaders are racing to bring students back to the classroom, according to CBS3.
