- Most known for her role as the high-pitched voice character police officer Laverne Hooks, Ramsey also had a role in Hello Dolly and other Broadway plays.
- According to her manager, Ramsey had become ill recently, but the cause of her death is unknown.
- During her life, Ramsey was an advocate for HIV and AIDS awareness and is survived by three brothers.
