Kyrie Irving Committing $1.5 Mil For WNBA Players Who Sit Out

Now that is love. While the sports world is waiting for some normalcy, some sports have started. However, some athletes still feel some type of way, not just with the pandemic, but also with the social injustice. One WNBA team wants one of their owners to leave the team because she doesn't support the Black Live Matter movement that the players support. The other day, some WNBA players walked off the court during the National Anthem. Some players are even opting out of playing this season, but of course that can definitely affect their pay. Brooklyn Nets' Kyrie Irving is about to help out. He is helping to make sure WNBA players can sit out the season and not stress about a paycheck because he is committing $1.5 million to supplement the income of players who choose not to play this season, whether because of coronavirus concerns or social justice reasons, according to ESPN. He decided to help with the financial burden in a league where the top annual salary is a little more than $200,000. Kyrie said he connected with several of the WNBA players who talked with him about the challenges they faced in deciding whether to play or not. You have the coronavirus that is scary for the athletes then you have the social injustices that is also scary for the players. Kudos to Kyrie for looking out.
