Whew! Number 45 is pushing his weight and ego around again, but that seems to be always. Just this week, he got a win from the Supreme Court. The U.S. Supreme Court is now saying employers can opt out of providing insurance coverage for birth control. He may have gotten that win however, we are not sure if he will win with his fight to get schools to fully reopen. Of course with the COVID-19 pandemic, people are wondering will virtual learning continue in schools or will they fully reopen. While a lot of businesses are trying to follow the CDC guidelines, the President still thinks the pandemic isn't a big thing and he wants schools to reopen. However, the CDC will issue new guidelines to welcome students back after the President said their current recommendations were tough and very expensive. It has gotten to the point that the President is threatening to cut federal funding for districts who defy his his demands. That seems to be the issue, the demands. According to CNN, he can't unilaterally cut current federal support of schools, but he could restrict some recent pandemic relief funding or refuse to sign future education grants and bailouts, and any reductions in federal funding would hit schools hard. This is his thought process through a pandemic that has picked up numbers in numerous states, by the way. Now one downfall to virtual teaching only, could result in a loss of jobs for several teachers. But CNN also says the average district may have to spend an additional $1.8 million to institute and adhere to health and safety protocols, according to a joint estimate by the School Superintendents Association (AASA) and the Association of School Business Officials International. We will see what happens.
