You knew this would happen, but Drew Brees is out here issuing apologies to his friends and teammates over the comments he made during an interview with Yahoo Finance. In light of everything that is going on for social justice, Drew was asked if he thought people would still kneel during the National Anthem and he basically said it was disrespectful because his grandfathers were in the army fighting for the country. Well, I'm not quite sure if he knew that there were also blacks fighting in the same war for the same rights, which, they were denied. Drew said he will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag, and of course, that's what the kneeling was about. But his comments came at the wrong time and he definitely missed the mark. His teammates and other athletes were upset over his comments. And then Drew apologized. Drew posted a video apologizing with his caption reading, "Step-by-step you will see my heart for exactly what it is and the way everyone around me sees it. I’m sorry it has taken this long to act and to participate in a meaningful way but I am your ally in this fight." Does that sound genuine to you? Well, there are plenty athletes who are like, Drew said what he said the first time. Even ESPN's Anthony "Booger" McFarland tweeted in response to Drew, "Im sorry for the way that America is crucifying me , I’m not sorry for what I said. Got it."
