Ava DuVernay Sued By Ex-Prosecutor for Netlfix "When They See Us"

Ava DuVernay did an amazing job with her Netflix series"When They See Us" about the exonerated 5. It was emotional to watch and while a lot of his was based on truth, one person didn't feel that way. That person was the prosecutor who got these teen boys locked up, Linda Fairstein. She didn't feel the portrayal of her character was accurate at all and now she is suing Ava and Netflix for defamation. She filed a federal lawsuit on Wednesday, according to TMZ. Fairstein says her character portrayal came off as a racist and unethical villain who was determined to lock up innocent black boys. If you've seen the movie, then you definitely got mad with her character, but Fairstein denies unlawfully interrogating unaccompanied minors, manipulating the timeline to pin the jogger's rape on the Central Park 5, directing NYPD detectives to coerce confessions, and more actions that the series portrayed. However, a rep for Netflix tells says her lawsuit is without merit and Netflix will defend Ava and the team behind the series.
