Lifetime has announced its cast for the network’s upcoming Salt-N-Pepa biopic. GG Townson known for her roles in In the Cut, “Everybody Hates Chris” will star as Cheryl “Salt” James and Laila Odom (“The Bobby DeBarge Story” and Undercover Brother 2) will portray Sandra “Pepa” Denton. Cleveland Berto as music producer “Hurby Azor,” Jermel Howard will play Naughty By Nature rapper Treach and Monique Paul will star as DJ Spinderella. The project titled Salt-N-Pepa will tell the story of nursing students Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton as they rise to success in the male-dominated rap industry. Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere of Flavor Unit have signed on as executive producers, along with Jesse Collins (The New Edition Story). Abdul Williams (The New Edition Story) is writing the script. The Salt-N-Pepa biopic is set to air on Lifetime in 2020.
