The 44-year-old victim was kicked and punched by several men inside the Strauss Houses, at 344 E. 28th St. near First Avenue, about 5:20 a.m. Aug. 3, according to police and the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. The men then grabbed his Phat Farm brand shoes, along with his wallet and two cellphones, and fled, police said. The victim was left with a cut and swelling on his head, as well as bruised and scratched arms, according to the DA’s criminal complaint. Here’s the real kicker, though. Police were able to retrieve the stolen shoes. Police arrested Jonathan Rivera, 18, four days later and charged him with robbery and resisting arrest. The other men involved in the beating got away with the stolen property, the complaint said, but once Rivera was at the 13th Precinct stationhouse on Aug. 7, he made a phone call and asked an acquaintance to bring the stolen shoes to the precinct. A woman delivered the shoes to the precinct, the DA’s office said.
