Carol's Daughter, one of the first big natural hair brands, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Only two stores will be left standing as natural hair product pioneer Carol's Daughter announced it has filed for bankruptcy. The company has already closed down five stores and has laid off more than half of its employees. The only stores remaining will be in Brooklyn and Harlem. Carol's Daughter was first established in 1993 by Lisa Price, an African-American woman from Brooklyn who built her beauty empire out of her very own kitchen.
