President Obama Starts New Program


President Obama is taking strides to make a difference in the lives of young minority men. A new initiative titled “My Brother’s Keeper” will bring together different groups and organizations that will use different strategies to keep young minority men in schools and out of jails and prisons. A White House official spoke about the program saying that it is, “to make sure that every young man of color who is willing to work hard and lift himself up has an opportunity to get ahead and reach his full potential…The initiative will be focused on implementing strategies that are proven to get results.”  Speaking Of Obama seems like he’s trying to accomplish the things he said in his State of the Union Address last month.



Minimum Wage Going Up?


An Obama administration official confirmed that President Barack Obama signed an executive order to set the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour for workers under federal contract. Obeezy proposed a minimum wage bill last February and the Senate nor the House could agree on passing it. So Obama is taking things into his own hands.





Average Engagement Ring Cost ??


 New data from the American Express Spending & Savings Tracker shows that the average cost of an engagement ring is now 2,311-dollars. However, not everyone is spending that kind of cash. The survey included 1,500 adults, and just 25-percent of people said it was appropriate to spend between 2,000 and 4,999 dollars for a ring. The majority, 38-percent, said 1,000-dollars or less was an acceptable price range. The old rule of thumb is that the ring should cost about three-month's salary.



Michael Sam’s Father Expresses Disappointment


According to The New York Times, football player Michael Sam's dad wasn't too happy when he came out of the closet to him via text. Michael Sam Sr. spoke on his reaction, saying, “I couldn’t eat no more, so I went to Applebee’s to have drinks. I don’t want my grandkids raised in that kind of environment.” He added that he is "old school" and that the idea of a gay player in the NFL bothers him - even if that person could be his own son.  He also said, “As a black man, we have so many hurdles to cross. This is just one he has to cross." Despite it all, Michael Sam Sr. says he loves his son and hopes he makes it into the NFL. In other Michael Sam news. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Court Date

Lawyers for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Boston Bomber that wasn’t killed, have requested a trial date no earlier than September 2015. The report said Tsarnaev's lawyers have not had a chance to review the many pieces of physical evidence, "including nearly 2,000 items that reportedly are still being analyzed by the FBI and items kept at additional locations." The defense is also making additional requests for evidence. Prosecutors said they estimate the trial would last approximately 12 weeks. Federal prosecutors said last month they'll seek the death penalty against Tsarnaev, arguing that he acted in "an especially heinous, cruel and depraved manner" and lacks remorse. Tsarnaev is charged with 30 federal counts stemming from the April 15 attack, which left three people dead and more than 250 others injured. Tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty to all charges.



Nas Teams Up With X Box

Nas has teamed up with X Box Studios to
develop a project focusing on the earlier days of Nas' career in the 1990's. The music series will be entitled "Street Dreams" and the series will tell the rapper's life story -- from being raised in Queensbridge and he beginning stages of his career.
