After serving two years in federal prison for tax evasion and drug charges, Beanie Sigel is out. He was arrested back in 2012 when he was pulled over and police found prescription drugs in his possession. This charge was added to the charges for him failing to file taxes in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Philadelphia Daily News Scraps Ferguson Front Page

After upset readers voiced their opinion, Philadelphia Daily News decided to scrap their Ferguson-centered cover story for yesterday’s issue. On Wednesday night the publication previewed the cover, which had the title “They Protested A Police Shooting In Missouri& Were Met By An Army” along with a picture of protestors in masks throwing fire. Readers voiced their disapproval via Twitter with comments like “please reconsider. It's racially charged and very likely to improperly frame the situation” and “why would you use that particular photo?!” Thursday’s cover photo was changed to a woman holding a sign that read “Excuse me…we need answers for Michael Brown Jr.” The coloumnist for the original story, Will Bunch- said, “Based on reader reaction we're changing our front page image — so we actually do listen.” I also heard 2 reporters were arrested out in Missouri for being at the protest site

Anonymous Hackers Threaten #Ferguson Police, Reveal Mike Brown’s Shooter

A group of hackers threatened the Missouri this week they made several demands - which had consequences if not met. One of those demands was that the identity of the officer who shot Brown be revealed to the public. After receiving death threats the police department decided to keep the officer’s identity anonymous. In response, the group of hackers started to leak the personal information of several officers in the city before tweeting a photo of Bryan Williams- the alleged shooter. The identity has not been officially confirmed but Anonymous’ twitter account has been suspended by twitter.

Gilbert Arenas Calls Al Sharpton A THOT

Gilbert Arenas is apparently not a fan of Al Sharpton. After seeing Sharpton’s reaction to the Michael Brown shooting, Arenas took to Instagram to share his feelings. He posted, “FAMILiES of the victims pleaseeeeee stop asking #alsharpton to speak or ur behalf, you have a better chance having #caesar the monkey from #planetoftheapes to get justice for you. The stats also show AL coon sharpton has not helped one situation he has protested at,he actually made it worst and because of him the jury goes the other way.” He then took it really far when he said, “AL ur like a #THOT in the club, lookn for attention what u said at trayvons rally #enoughisenough ur right were tired of u PRETENDING.” This was all in response to Al Sharpton going to Ferguson and marching arm-in-arm with protestors. Sharpton has not yet responded to the comments.

Military Revises Racially Biased Hairstyle Rules

Back in March the Army released a series of photos that depicted the types of hairstyles that are banned for soldiers. These styles included dreadlocks, twists and multiple braids/ cornrows- all of which are popular styles among African American women. The army deemed these styles “unkempt and “matted”. Black service members and people nationwide protested the rules calling them racially charged and biased. Female members of the Congressional Black Congress wrote to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel calling the rules “discriminatory”. Hagel has responded to the requests for change and announced revisions yesterday, “At my direction, over the last three months, each Military Service reviewed its definitions of authorized and prohibited hairstyles, and eliminated offensive language, including the terms 'matted and unkempt' from both the Army and the Air Force grooming regulations…Additionally, each Service reviewed its hairstyle policies to ensure standards are fair and respectful while also meeting our military requirements.”

Arizona State University Linebacker Comes Out

Looks like Michael Sam becoming the first openly gay player in the NFL has paved the way for other football players to open up and be honest about their sexuality. Arizona State linebacker Edward Sarafin has come out and revealed that he is gay. He made his announcement on Wednesday via an article in Compete magazine, a gay sports publication. Sarafin says that coming out has benefited his “peace of mind greatly.” His team mates and coaches seem to be very supportive. Head coach, Todd Graham said, “We are a brotherhood that is not defined by cultural and personal differences, but rather an individuals commitment to the Sun Devil Way.” Michael Sam also applauded Sarafin for “having the courage to be [him]self.” This makes Sarafin the first openly gay player in Division I football.
