David Banner On CNN

On Tuesday, David Banner joined a panel on CNN to discuss the plights still facing the black community. The discussion was sparked by the police-killing of 18 year old Mike Brown. Watch what David Banner had to say.

Fergueson Police Department Releases First Statement

Following 4 days of unrest in Ferguson, Missouri because of the killing of unarmed teen Mike Brown, the police department in the city has finally released an official statement. The statement talks about how the department “understands” that people are grieving, wants to “restore confidence in the safety of the community” and that they ask people to only protest “during daytime hours” and to do so respectfully. This statement comes in the wake of countless protests in the city some where officers unleashed tear gas and rubber bullets. The full statement reads:“The City of Ferguson mourns the loss of Michael Brown's life that occurred this past Saturday. We understand members of our community, and those nationwide, are grieving with us. We have worked diligently to provide an opportunity for our residents to both grieve and voice frustrations through prayer vigils and peaceful protests. We would like to extend our gratitude to the St. Louis County Police Department, the St. Louis City Police Department, the Missouri Highway Patrol, and numerous local law enforcement agencies for their assistance over the past several days. These officers have worked throughout the night to quell violent outbursts and restore calm to our City. We are working to restore confidence in the safety of our community and our neighborhoods so that we may begin the healing process. We have heard the community's cries for justice and assure the public that the Ferguson Police Department will continue to cooperate fully in the investigations led by the St. Louis County Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Justice Department. We ask that any groups wishing to assemble in prayer or in protest do so only during daylight hours in an organized and respectful manner. We further ask all those wishing to demonstrate or assemble to disperse well before the evening hours to ensure the safety of the participants and the safety of our community. Unfortunately, those who wish to co-opt peaceful protests and turn them into violent demonstrations have been able to do so over the past several days during the evening hours. These events are not indicative of the City of Ferguson and its residents. The City of Ferguson has been through tough situations in the past, albeit nothing to this magnitude, but will continue to display resilience and fortitude. The Mayor and City Council are committed to taking the necessary steps to rebuild and strengthen our community. We look forward to your cooperation and support.”

Second Police Shooting In Fergueson

Amidst the turmoil in Ferguson, Missouri- there have been reports of another police involved shooting.  Police officers were responding the calls about gun shots being fired and 4 or 5 armed men running near a Ferguson intersection. Apparently officials arrived on the scene and one of the suspects withdrew a gun and pointed it at one of them. The officer opened fire, critically wounding the suspect. Unlike in Mike Brown’s case, a gun was recovered at the scene. The suspect was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his wounds.

LAPD Officers Shoot & Kill Unarmed Black Man

Police shootings of unarmed black men continue. On Monday night, 24 year old Ezell Ford was shot by LAPD officers who were conducting an “investigative stop”. Officials report that they were attempting to subdue the man when a “struggle ensued” and Ford was shot. But witnesses say that Ford, who is known to be mentally challenged, was lying on the ground complying with officer demands when he was shot. One witness alleges that one officer yelled “shoot him” before firing 3 times. Ford did not die on the scene and was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his wounds. Unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries Tuesday night.

Brown Stuff You Didn’t Expect In Your Coffee

There have been coffee shortages lately, and if you’ve been buying your coffee pre-ground then you may have been shorted too. According to reports some of the pre-ground java coming out of Brazil has been found to be tainted with things like brown sugar, corn, wheat, soybeans, and seeds to wood, dirt and twigs. Because the filler add-ins are hard to detect, a team of researchers is developing a liquid chemical method that will separate the ingredients and let consumers know exactly what is in it. Until this method is complete, you may want to start grinding your beans on your own.

Experimental Ebola Drug Sent To Liberia

After two Americans were treated with an experimental drug for Ebola, three West African researchers spoke up and demanded that they also have access to the potentially life saving drug. According to new reports, the US has put Liberian officials in touch with the creators of the drug, ZMAPP. ZMAPP is one of several experimental drugs being developed to combat Ebola but none of the drugs have been tested for safety on humans. Liberia has announced that it will receive several doses of the drug that will be used to treat two doctors that have fallen ill. As of Monday the deadly virus had claimed the lives of 1013 and sickened 1848 more.
