Eminem Becomes First Artist To Earn 2 Digital Diamond Awards

 Eminem, the 2nd best selling male artist of all time, is the first artist to receive two digital diamond awards! In the music world Diamond means selling 10 million and not many artists reach that these days. Yesterday the Recording Industry Association of America awarded Em with a digital diamond award for his track ‘Not Afraid’ for selling 10 million and for ‘Love The Way You Lie’ featuring Rihanna, which has more than 11 million digital downloads. The RIAA’s CEO congratulated Eminem with this statement, “We are delighted to recognize Eminem as the first artist to earn two RIAA Digital Diamond Awards. This singular achievement – earning a Diamond Award on two separate digital songs – is unparalleled, and we congratulate him on forever etching a mark in Gold & Platinum Program history.” In addition to two digital diamond awards Slim Shady also has 2 10x multi platinum selling album- The Mashall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show.

 

Another School Shooting

Yesterday the students at Reynold’s High School in Oregon were in serious danger when a teenager entered the school with a rifle, killing a fellow student, injuring a teacher and then taking his own life. Witnesses say the gunman entered, fired several rounds into the gym before running into the bathroom and shooting himself. 14 year old Emilio Hoffman, a freshman at the state’s 2nd largest high school, succumbed to his injuries. When reports of the shooting were received the school was locked down and a room-by-room search was conducted. A camera-equipped robot searched the halls and eventually found the shooter in the bathroom stall. The shooter’s identity is being withheld at this time. This is the third school shooting in 3 weeks and Obama said in a press conference that the law aren’t going to change until the people really demand it from lawmakers. 

 

Donald Sterling Still Suing The NBA For $1B

Last week, among reports of early Alzheimers and Shelly Sterling taking the lead, it was announced that Donald Sterling had agreed to sell the Los Angeles Clippers to Steve Ballmer for a reported $2 billion. Now new supports suggest that Donald Sterling has pulled his support of the sale of the team and plans to sue the NBA. Maxwell Blecher, Sterling’s attorney, said, “We have been instructed to prosecute the lawsuit” and that he would not be signing off on the deal. Sterling is suing the league for $1 billion for violating his constitutional rights- for relying on an illegally recorded statement-, for breach of contract- for fining him $2.5 million, and for violating anti trust laws with the forced sale. Sterling made this statement, “I have decided that I must fight to protect my rights…While my position may not be popular, I believe that my rights to privacy and the preservation of my rights to due process should not be trampled. I love the team and have dedicated 33 years of my life to the organization. I intend to fight to keep the team.”

 

DJ Khaled Claims Spurs Cheated

During a chat with Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless and Cari Champion, DJ Khaled revealed his theory on how he thinks the Spurs cheated the Heat out of a win during game 1.

 

 

I am done! Wonder what Khaled’s conspiracy theory is for The Spurs whopping that Heat ass last night in Miami!  111 – 92. The Spurs just out played The Heat and the Game 4 continues Thursday night at 9pm.

 

College Grad Caught Breastfeeding Defends Her Actions

25 year old Karlesha Thurman has received a lot of flack for an image she posted breast feeding her four month old daughter during her graduation from California State University- Long Beach. She posted the picture in a Facebook group called “Black Women Do Breast Feed” in support of another mother who says she receives dirty looks for breast-feeding in public. Amidst all of the criticism Thurman told ABC, “I personally have gotten nothing but positive feedback, but the people on Twitter are being very harsh towards the photo… Nobody there had a problem with it. I was facing the other graduates. The crowd couldn’t see me.” She said all she was trying to do is show that black women do breastfeed and did not foresee the blacklash that would come from it. Some critics say that they don’t have a problem with the breastfeeding, but that a graduation is not the place to do it. Here is the link to the photo.

 

1 In 4 Americans Living With Diabetes Don't Know

According to a new report issued by the CDC there are now 29 million Americans living with diabetes. This number is 3 million higher than in 2011. The CDC thinks that at least 25% of the people with the disease don’t know that they have it and are going undiagnosed and untreated. They also believe that there are another 89 million adults at risk who are living with “pre-diabetes”. A CDC director issued this statement via press release “These new numbers are alarming and underscore the need for an increased focus on reducing the burden of diabetes in our country…It’s urgent that we take swift action to effectively treat and prevent this serious disease.”

 

1st Graders Rushed To Hospital

An entire first grade class was taken to CHOP yesterday after one of thief fellow 6 year olds was caught with packets of what is believed to be heroin. A teacher from John Barry Elementary School notified authorities when she saw the student playing with small plastic packets she brought to school with her. The school nurse and paramedics immediately started examining the kids since heroin can be absorbed through the skin but they ultimately decided to bus all 20 students to the hospital for evaluation. Parents were notified of the incident via letter last night.

 

50 Cent’s Starz Drama Power Premiered To 2.6 Million Viewers

50 Cent’s new executive produced drama ‘Power’ on the Starz Network did big numbers of the weekend. According to reports, the show had 462,000 live viewers, 1.27 million viewers for three Saturday night airings and 2.022 million viewers for the nine weekend re-runs on Saturday and Sunday. The show “chronicles the life of Omari Hardwick’s character James “Ghost” St. Patrick as he juggles trying to decide when to obtain dirty money versus the clean cash he makes as his nightclub.” Weekend totals for the show are at 2.6 million beating out Star’z original drama ‘The White Queen’.
