Stephen Colbert Will Replace David Letterman On The Late Show - Yesterday CBS announced that Stephen Colbert, who has been on Comedy Central for almost 20 years, will replace David Letterman on “The Late Show.” Last week Letterman announced that after 30 years on the air, he will be leaving late night television. Colbert revealed that he will not be doing the show in “comedy central” style and said, “I won’t be doing the new show in character, so we’ll all get to find out how much of him was me…I’m looking forward to it… I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me.” Letterman also released a statement on the replacement saying, “Stephen has always been a real friend to me…I’m very excited for him, and I’m flattered that CBS chose him. I also happen to know they wanted another guy with glasses.” CBS calls Colbert one of the most “inventive” and “respected forces in television.” The switch will happen some time in 2015- as Letterman has not revealed his official last day.
Colin Kaepernick Investigation - Yesterday news reports surfaced that suggest San Fransico 49er’s player Colin Kaepernick could be in some legal trouble after an incident in Miami. The alleged incident took place earlier this month and may have involved a sexual assault. A woman is claiming Kaepernick insisted she couldn’t drink unless she smoked, so she did. She said she didn’t feel good and ended up on the bed. That’s when Kaepernick allegedly kissed her as she was lightheaded and then left after. After Kaepernick left she saw his 2 boys, who also play in the league, peak in the room and keep it moving. Ricardo Lockette, who plays for the Seahawks, and Quinton Patton, who also plays for the 49ers, where the other 2. She doesn’t remember too much but she says she has had sex with Kaepernick in the past. She said she woke up in the hospital. Kaepernick has not yet commented on the allegations but the 49er’s made the following statement: “49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick…and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts.” The Miami Dade police department has made it very clear that no one has been charged and that the investigation is in the beginning stages.
79-Year-Old Teacher Is Fired After Refusing To Unfriend Her Students On Facebook - Carol Thebarge, a 79 year old teacher from New Hampshire has been fired after she refused to unfriend her students on Facebook. Apparently it’s against school policy for the faculty to be “friends” with the students on social media. Thebarge has been teaching in the school system for more than 9 years and teaching in general for more than 35. Thebarge calls facebook “valuable” and “a wonderful communication tool”. She explained her firing saying, “They gave me an ultimatum–either take them all off or you are terminated…And I decided that I would not comply and so I was terminated. And it’s caused a firestorm across the entire area.” Students from the school have rallied in Ms. T’s defense fighting to get her job back but she says that she wouldn’t return to the district even if they asked her to.
Drake Clears Up U Conn Bandwagon Fan Slander On ESPN - Drake became the victim of onslaughts of slander when Kentucky beat the Wildcats during the championship game. Drake had on what people thought was a UConn shirt but when the game was over he was in the Kentucky locker room. On Wednesday the future ESPY host went on ESPN to clear up the confusion. He said, “But you know I want to clear something up… He was wearing a UConn shirt. I was wearing a James Young Kentucky shirt, but the James Young logo looks like a 'U’”. Drake asserted that he is a proud Wildcats supporter. He also was on Sports Center saying he and Johnny Manziel are really good friends and explained that their friendship is so real that Manziel got an OVO tat on his inside wrist.

The Police Department Is Looking For New Recruits - Even though crime in the city is down, police chief Charles Ramsey has announced that the police force is having trouble recruiting new officers. He revealed that 50% of those invited to orientation don’t show up and continued, “We're seeing whether it's a problem of our standards being too tight.” Eligible candidates must pass a physical fitness test, reading test, polygraph test, background check and be at least 19 years old. Ramsey announced that the biggest decline in new member acquisition is among African American men. The fraternal order of police president commented on the understaffed force saying that the city is large enough and shouldn’t’ have to comply with state police standards- continuing, “We shouldn't have to jump through hoops because somebody missed a sit-up.”
Obamacare Secretary Resigns - News broke yesterday that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is resigning, the move coming just days after the end of the Obamacare enrollment period, which had a disastrous debut back in October with a basically non-functioning website. Enrollment eventually recovered, however, and has risen past the initial goal to 7.5 million people. President Obama reportedly will choose Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, to replace Sebelius. Burwell would have to go through a confirmation hearing for the post. AP cited a White House official as saying Sebelius approached Obama last month about stepping down, saying the end of enrollment was a good time for a transition and that he'd be better served by someone who's less of a political target.
Someone Disrespects Hilary Clinton - A Las Vegas Convention keynote speech was quite an event for Hilary Clinton. The hall was filled with more than 1000 people but one woman was so underwhelmed that she decided to through a shoe at Clinton. She was swiftly taken into federal custody. Clinton dodged the shoe and joked about it saying, “Is that somebody throwing something at me? Is that part of Cirque de Soleil?... My goodness, I didn't know that solid waste management was so controversial…Thank goodness she didn't play softball like I did.”

The laws also apply to all other electronic smoking devices, such as vape pens, e-hookahs, and e-cigars.
Chief Keef Cousin Gets Shot To Death 10 Times - Chicago rapper Mario Hess, also known as Blood Money, was gunned down in Englewood. Hess is Chief Keef's cousin. Investigators are looking into whether rap feuds had anything to do with the two gunmen firing more than two dozen shots in the victim's direction- striking him at least 10 times. According to Hess' manager, Renaldo Reuben, he had just been signed by a major record label and paid $50,000. Reuben said he had been trying to get Hess out of the dangerous neighborhoods, "It's a lot of crime and violence in Chicago. These rap guys are being targeted, so you know, just trying to get him outside the neighborhood. He's from the streets." Hess' cousin was also injured in the shooting. No word on which one of the men was the target.
