H.E.R. And Producer Reach Settlement in Copyright Lawsuit for "Focus"

I hate talking about the bad news some of my favorite artists and celebs go through, but I stay fair. My girl, H.E.R. was hit with a copyright lawsuit over her song "Focus." It was a $3 million lawsuit because a songwriter and pianist Andre Sims claimed "Focus" was sampled from his song "Endless Minds. Music producer Darhyl "DJ" Camper, Justin Love and Sony music label were also hit with the lawsuit. According to The Jasmine Brand, Andre said DJ Camper allegedly admitted on social media that he saw Andre playing his song on YouTube and used it for H.E.R. song. Wow, just straight said he used the song and of course, without permission. In addition to copyright infringement, the suit included injunctive relief, an accounting of all monies made, and a request that the court requires the defendants to create a constructive trust to hold royalties. Details of the settlement haven't been disclosed, but Andre says he is happy its been resolved and settled.
