Ava DuVernay and Netflix Still Fighting Over Character in When They See Us

Ava DuVernay did a good job in her Netflix film series, "When They See Us." However, there was one person who didn't like the way she was portrayed and decided to sue Ava and Netflix. Linda Fairstine was the woman who helped prosecute the now-vindicated Central Park 5. Actress Felicity Huffman played Fairstine. When Fairstine saw her portrayal, she didn't like it and sued Netflix for defamation. Fairstine said the portrayal made her look as if she were a "racist, unethical villain who is determined to jail innocent children of color at any cost." According to TMZ, the defamation lawsuit will not be tossed out, which is what Netflix wanted because they thought her claims were crazy.. The judge ruled several scenes depicting Fairstine as racist while directing a police roundup of potential suspects in Harlem, withholding DNA evidence from the defense and coercing confessions could prove to be defamatory and can't be tossed out at this stage of litigation.
